Protecting Your Constitutional Rights

The Problem:

Government overreach during COVID and ongoing attacks on constitutional freedoms threaten the rights our founders guaranteed. For those who are unaware, Republicans are the party of the Emancipation Proclamation, the 13th Amendment permanently abolishing slavery, the 14th Amendment which granted full citizenship and voting rights to black men, and the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote. The party was also instrumental in passing the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 1968. Republicans have consistently been the party protecting individual rights against government tyranny at all levels.

My Solutions:

  • Restore checks and balances by limiting emergency powers and preventing any single branch from overriding constitutional protections
  • Protect free speech, religious liberty, and property rights by opposing censorship, defending the right to worship freely without government interference, and stopping unconstitutional property seizures like those enabled by House Bill 1217 which allows government to control private rental income
  • Respect the initiative process and the will of voters by blocking legislative attempts to override citizen initiatives and opposing measures like House Bill 1296 that include emergency clauses specifically designed to prevent voter challenges at the ballot box
  • Defend parental rights in education and healthcare decisions against bills like House Bill 1296 that removed parents from their children's medical decisions, counseling details, and access to curriculum and school records, effectively replacing parental authority with government control over children
  • Oppose government mandates that violate individual liberty, including vaccine requirements, business shutdowns, and restrictions on peaceful assembly

Result:

A government that serves the people, not the other way around.
